Our Mission

The Lucy Shair Foundation for Women in Finance is working to narrow the gender gap in the financial advising industry one grant at a time. With these grants we hope to eliminate barriers for women entering or advancing in the financial advising industry.

We will award direct grants to women who embody Lucy’s qualities - passion, community, empowerment and knowledge. These grants can be used to subsidize business development opportunities, dues and membership fees for professional organizations and networks, professional coaching and continuing education.

”I chose financial planning as a career not because I love money, but because I love people.”

Remembering Lucy.

Lucy Shair, 1977-2021

Lucy Shair, 1977-2021

Lucy Shair loved fiercely and fought hard.  This was demonstrated in her support and encouragement of family and friends, her commitment to public schools and social justice, as well as facing the challenge of a cancer diagnosis, twice.

Following her initial diagnosis and treatment through 2016, Lucy entered remission and shifted her professional interests to financial planning with the goal of empowering women through financial planning and strategy. With that goal in mind, she founded her own firm in 2018, Lucy Shair Financial, where she built a vibrant practice helping individuals and families recognize their financial goals.

Lucy’s wit, humor, and passion mattered. She cared deeply about others and wanted women to stand empowered, willing to take positive risks. Regardless of what she was facing, Lucy was a cheerleader for her friends and colleagues, no matter how big the dream. Lucy passed away on January 06, 2021. This Foundation aims to honor Lucy by supporting women like her. Dreaming boldly and embracing new opportunities is how Lucy moved in the world. The Board of Directors intends to keep her vibrant spirit alive.
